The Cape Cod Braided Rug Company was founded by the Paulus family. Since 1910, rug braiding has been a family tradition. Great Grandfather, Romeo Paulus produced the first machine-made braided rug in the United States, and the fourth generation is still active in the business.
DOUBLE BRAIDING SYSTEM
Our braided rugs are made right here on Cape Cod. We still use the old fashioned, time proven methods for braiding a quality, long lasting braided rug. We begin with the finest wool blend yarns, dyed in vibrant colors, with all braided rugs a minimum of 80% wool. Our braided rugs are created using a "DoubleBraid" system which results in the most durable braided rug possible. First we braid the yarn into one inch wide strips. Three of these strips are then braided together to produce the unique patterns that we are noted for in our braided rugs. In the final step, our braided rugs are sewn together with a short, tight stitch, using the strongest, color coordinated thread available.
Every braided rug we make carries along the family tradition for handcrafted excellence and quality. In our showroom we also offer a broad line of braided, hooked, and woven rugs from other quality manufacturers including: Capel, Claire Murray, Thorndike Mills, and Martin Importing.
